Partners: Areva T&D, CNM, Semelab, Swansea University

Areva T&D is attempting to establish a Framework 7 project to develop a European Silicon Carbide material growth capability. Without an indigenous Silicon Carbide material supplier, it will be difficult for Europe to remain competive in the field of power semiconductors.

Semelab and CNM are both partners in the ESA "Components for high power conditioning" project, which aims to develop high-voltage Silicon Carbide BJT's and diodes for space applications.

Semelab and Swansea University are partners in the UK government funded INTRINSIC project, which is building on the novel hetero-junction MOSFET technology developed within the ESCAPEE project.
